オーサ・サンゼーン監督一問一答 個人的体験を普遍的テーマへ昇華させる

『まだ生きている』では出産間際に愛児を堕胎せざるを得なかった母親を、『彼岸』では実在する3人の体外離脱体験を描いた、スウェーデンのオーサ・サンゼーン監督。
日本に生きるわたしたちにも通じるスピリチュアルな世界を映像化した経緯、取材方法などを監督に一問一答しました。
Q1： 『まだ生きている』と『彼岸』は監督自身あるいは何方かの体験のドキュメンタリーですか？あるいは実話に基づく物語ですか？
サンゼーン： 2本とも、わたしの体験に基づく映画です。
そして、臨死体験を描いた『彼岸』は映画に登場する3人（Mona、Andreas、Iki）が体験した実話を基にしています。

Q2： どのような理由から、体外離脱体験あるいは臨死体験に興味を持ったのですか？
サンゼーン： わたしが入院した時に体験したからです。
『まだ生きている』はむしろ、愛する人を喪った深い悲しみに耐えようとする時、そして受け入れ難いことを受け入れねばならない時、心はどのように巡るのかを描きました。

Q3： 2本で描かれた体験をした人たちや病院関係者に取材したのですか？
サンゼーン： はい、『彼岸』では3人にインタビューしました（実際には医者への取材をもっとしましたが、映画には登場しません）。
『まだ生きている』は、ネットコミュニティに紹介されていた多数の体験談を読み、わたしの個人的体験が似たような体験をしたという人たちと、どのようにつながるのかを調べました。
個人的体験談の隘路にはまらないよう、個人的体験の中にある普遍的テーマに至ろうと努力しました。
Q4： 仏教に『彼岸』と似たような考え（此岸と彼岸、到彼岸）があります。ご存知ですか？
サンゼーン： 知りませんでした!!! それはとても興味深いです。英語で書かれた案内を知っていますか？もっと知りたいです。

Q1) Are your 2 films based on your experiences or any other ones, or from real stories?
A)Yes both films are based on my own experiences, but Second shore is also based on the real experiences of the three people that are in the film.
Q2) Why you are interested in out-of-body or spiritual travel while people is unconscious?
A)Because I've had that experience when I was in hospital. But in Still Born it's more like only how the mind travels when you are trying to cope with grief and to try and accept the unacceptable.
Q3) Did you hear the persons who have such experiences or the medical profession?
A)Yes for Second shore I did three interviews (and some other interviews with doctors but they are not in the film). And for Still Born I read a lot of other stories on web forums by people with similar experiences to see what in my personal experience that other people in similar situations could relate to. I worked a lot to reach a universal theme in a personal story and not get stuck in the private.
Q4) In the Buddhism, there is a similar idea about The Second Shore. Do you know it?
A)No I didn't!! That's very interesting. Do you have a link to some short version of this in English? I would love to learn more about it!
